One of the nicest things about being an author are Amazon reviews. Even the scathing ones are from a perfect stranger–not a professional reviewer–who was affected sufficiently by your work to invest a tiny (or not so tiny in some cases, especially when the book made them mad!) slice of their time to say something about it.
