I received news that my story “Acid Test” won the second prize in this year’s Jim Baen Memorial Short Story contest. I feel honored to have scored a top-three finish… but now I want it to be next year so I can try for that elusive top spot!
Ice Station: Death Released Today
Monsters! There’s a first time for everything, and this is my first ever monster novel. It’s entitled , and I absolutely love the cover which Severed Press has put together for it. The ebook is already available for download, and I’ll let everyone know when the paperback comes out. Link to the ebook here.
Jim Baen Memorial Award Press Releases
I did promise to bore everyone with the press releases about the Jim Baen Memorial Award Finalists, so here they are. What I like most is that I’m the only writer from outside the US on that list.
I’m a Finalist for the Jim Baen Memorial Award
Last year, I was a top ten finalist for the Jim Baen Memorial Award. It made my day, my week and my writing year, so you can imagine how chuffed I was a couple of weeks ago to learn that I’m a finalist again this year… and how awful it was to be unable to share with you.
But now I have the green light to announce that a story of mine (not at liberty to release the title yet) is a top ten finalist for the Jim Baen Memorial Award… And I’m extremely happy! (also, if any of my friends are also finalists, let me know!)
I’ll likely be inundating this feed with the various press releases forthcoming about this
Infidel Life Published in Page and Spine
My story “Infidel Life” has been published on Page and Spine, and is free to read. Link is here. If you happen to read it, please let me know what you think – it’s literary and a bit different from my stuff you might have read in genre publications.
Infidel Life Sold to Page & Spine
Bio Up on Gehenna Books
My author bio is up on Gehenna Books’ website. Always like it when a publisher has a nice bio page, which is why I always try to give them a shout out! Link here.
Glass Island Sold to Every Day Fiction
Every Day Fiction is probably the place where most stories of mine have appeared. To date, 20 of my flash pieces have been published there. This makes me proud because it took me a while when I was starting to break in, and they are still very rigorous when it comes to selecting stories. So it makes me very happy to announce that they’ve purchased my tale “Glass Island”. I’ll be sure to link to the ToC for the month when it appears (and to the story, as well, of course).
Wolf of the Tesseract – Free Download Today!
Friend and fellow author Christopher D. Schmitz’s book Wolf of the Tesseract is free to download today – just wanted to let everyone know, as he writes fun books.
Here’s what the author has to say about these:
“Reality is fracturing. Only Claire can fix it… if she survives. College can’t prepare you for everything. It’s been called Percy Jackson Vs Werewolves Vs. Cthulhu–Get the 1st two full books in the Wolves of the Tesseract series as part of my free, no-strings/no-spam offer!”

Aikanaka Sold to ParAbnormal Digest
My story Aikanaka will be appearing in a future issue of ParAbnormal Digest. Always happy to see this one in print, as it is a story I really like!
